The author of "Autobiography of a Yogi", Paramhansa Yoganand went to his teacher Yukteswar Giri to seek his blessing before leaving for an overseas trip. He prostrated before his teacher and asked, " Why are you asking me to go abroad?" His teacher replied, " to understand the Science of the West." The teacher explained further, " The day the spirituality of  India embraces and imbibes the Scientific thought of the West, that day the Whole world will be entranced by glorious light emerging from India." Saying this, the teacher read the following sloka from the Bhagwat Gita,

"Divi Suryasahasrasya Bhavedyugapduthita | Yadi Bhah Sadrishi Sa Syabhdhasastasya Mahatman ||"(11/12)
This means that the light, which is created by the rising of a thousand suns, may not be brighter than the light that will emerge from our country on that eventful day.
